Bottom Blacking and Antifouling
We can accommodate narrowboats up to 72′ long on our adjustable trailer. Boats are pulled out with an electric winch, then pressure washed with an extremely powerful turbo washer driven by an 80hp diesel engine. The boat is then pulled undercover into a 64′ long shed. The anodes and sterngear are inspected, any work required is advised to the owner and carried out if requested. There is no extra charge for ‘V’ bottoms. Rear ‘tunnel-bands’ can be repainted within the normal timescale.
Live-aboards are welcome.
Standard Option
When dry, any loose paint or corrosion is scraped off, then 3 coats of high quality bitumastic paint are applied on subsequent days, and the boat relaunched. This option usually requires 4 days on the slipway.
High Specification Option
When dry all the old coating is removed from the hull using rotary blasters. Three coats of ‘Jotamastic 80’ 2 pack black epoxy paint, are applied on subsequent days, and the boat relaunched. This option usually requires around 1 week on the slipway.
DIY Option
After pulling undercover, the boat owner carries out his own paintwork. 4 days is the normal time-scale for hull blacking. Extra time undercover is available if pre-booked.
Cruisers
Cruisers up to about 27′ are pulled out on a trailer, and pressure washed. The bottom is primed as necessary and two coats of anti-fouling of your choice applied. Whilst the boat is out, we are happy to undertake any other work required. DIY anti-fouling is an option. The timescale for cruisers on a trailer is usually more flexible and is not undercover.
Larger cruisers can sometimes be accommodated on the main trailer and put undercover, please call to discuss.
We are flexible in our approach, and are happy to use different brands or options.
Hardstanding (not undercover) for longer term work is occasionally available for boats up to about 45′
